WordPress Website Design

You need a new website. Where do you start?

The tech is overwhelming. The options are confusing. You're afraid to waste time or money on someone who can't deliver (or disappears mid-project).

  • We are consulting-driven. We begin with specific questions about goals and functionality, then guide you through every step of the process with detailed questionnaires and explanation.
  • We care about design. Our founder is a designer first and foremost. Our tech stack is solid and your website will load fast, but it will also look good doing it.
  • We host what we build. We're developers, and WordPress hosting is what we do. We're not making mockups; we're building a live site and handing you the keys.

Most importantly, we stay with you after launch. When you need help updating your site or remembering how to post a blog, we’re just a call away.

A person holds a smartphone displaying a website with the headline, "What got you here is now breaking everything else," in front of a blurred laptop showing the same site.

Every site we build is responsive, meaning it adapts to the size of the user's device. Before and after launch we test on mobile devices and make small design tweaks to ensure usability.

I cannot sing enough praises for Sarah and her amazing set of skills and dedication to her clients. I have relied on her entirely for my website management and now use her to help set up and manage my client management system. Her brain works in an entirely different way than mine and I'm SO thankful to be able to call on her when I'm in need of tech help. She knows it ALL...and if for some reason she doesn't, she figures it out. Sarah is the best money I spend on my business. I would recommend her to any business owner that doesn't want to spend hours writing code and making things work. ha. But seriously – I owe her so much more than I pay her.

website design FAQ's

40%+ of the Internet runs on WordPress, and these websites can be as simple as a landing page, or as complex as NASA and Disney. It's been around for years, there's a dedicated community and ecosystem, and it's infinitely customizable.

Sarah has built entire MVP apps (Minimum Viable Product) on top of WordPress. We build a lot of custom/complex forms, it's great for SEO, and we can add appointment booking, events, digital downloads... anything you dream up can be built on top of WordPress.

You might begin with a simple brochure site, but it's the ideal foundation as you grow your business.

For the clients who know they'll never need anything beyond a landing page, we offer static websites.

While we specialize in WordPress, we do offer static website design for specific use cases (startup websites or simple landing pages). If you're not sure what you need, schedule a discovery call and we'll provide personalized recommendations.

Because we have a highly refined, efficient process, we actually combine the design and development phases for most projects. For larger packages we might include 1-3 mockups to determine overall styling if the client wants to spend more time on a separate design phase, but for the majority of our clients, we find this isn't necessary.

Yes – hosting is a requirement to work with us. We're here to be a long-term partner, not a one-night stand. Our process and pricing is built around a tech stack and system that Sarah has been developing for startups and small businesses for a decade.

We used to help with existing websites, and it was always messy. Hosting was cheap, inaccessible and backups were unclear, the build was badly done or coded from scratch in an unfamiliar way... these situations never end well, and we prioritize time for our managed hosting clients and those looking to become one.

If you're unhappy with your current website, it might be a good time for a redesign (which makes up a very large part of our business). Check out Website Redesigns to learn more.

We are not a focused SEO/PPC agency, but we utilize SEO best practices and recommendations on every website we build. If organic search is something you want to invest in, SEO Add-Ons are included as an option in our website proposals, we bring in our specialist partners, and we add an additional Discovery phase to the project before we start design/development.

Hands down, collecting the content. You'll have to provide images and copy for us to work with. We'll use stock photos when possible/if it makes sense, but we'll need headshots of the founder and team, action photos, if possible, and those usually take time to pull together.

For copy, we have a questionnaire (or interview) process designed to make this as easy for you as possible. It will still require your participation, but it's extremely guided.

There are two different types of WordPress. WordPress.com is the equivalent of Squarespace; you sign up through them to get the hosting account and software pre-installed, and pay extra to remove the .wordpress.com part of the domain name.

We offer, and are referring to self-hosted WordPress (WordPress.org), which is when you download the software and install it on your own server.

If you're new to this, read our blog post What Is WordPress to get an overview.

The beauty of self-hosted WordPress is that you are fully in control of everything. Don't like your web host? Pick a new one and move your website. Unlike Wix, Squarespace, or Webflow, self-hosted WordPress means you aren't locked into an account on a platform that limits what you can do or changes pricing twice a year.
